COVID 19 pandemic the deadliest disease of the century is wreaking havoc throughout the globe. Whilst it has receded in Europe the stint with death and damage is storming America and Asia. No specific medication or vaccination has not yet evolved. Prevention and mitigation by breaking the chain of transmission is the only available effective means of control for CoVid 19 presently. Staying healthy, observing social and personal hygiene help to maintain good immunity levels that act as a deterrent to a potential infection.
Ayurveda offers the best immune-modulation required for CoVid 19 prevention by boosting the immunity in low immune conditions and calming down the immune response in hyper sensitive conditions. Ayurveda personal conduct, social conduct, daily regimen, seasonal regimen and food habits are the unique tools to stay healthy as an individual and as a community. Here are a few guidelines for a healthy living during these stressful times.
Drink one glass of warm medicated water every hour. Boil water with coarse powder of dry ginger, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, cumin and cloves. Quantity of spices is 2 gram each for 1 litre of water. Boiling consistency is rolling boiling for 5 minutes
Moderately exercise at home with stretches. Practice Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation for stress management
Use goose berries, lemon, rock salt, turmeric, cumin, coriander, pepper, fresh ginger and garlic in daily cooking.
Eat warm food. Refrain from cold food.
Avoid sweets and confectionaries at night
Use the Ayush Kadha drink made up of Tulsi, cinnamon, cumin, pepper, dry ginger once or twice a day with natural brown sugar
Drink GOLDEN MILK at tea time. One teaspoon of turmeric boiled in 150 ml of milk and sweetened with natural brown sugar
Apply warm cow ghee to the inside of nostrils every morning for lubrication
Gargle every morning with warm water or water boiled with cloves and cardamom or warm water added with 10 ml of sesame oil
In case of sore throat:
Steam inhalation with pepper and mint leaves
Clove powder with honey to be slowly licked 2-3 times a day
For Immunity Boosting and Immuno-Modulation
Medicines like Indukantam Kashayam, Drakshadi Kashayam, Vilwadi Gulika, Sudarshanam Gulika, Chyanaprasham and Agasthya Rasayanam are all potent choices. However self-medication is strictly not advisable. Advice and prescription from a qualified Ayurveda doctor is a must.
